William Peace Volleyball Taken Down at Randolph, 3-0

LYNCHBURG, VA. – The William Peace volleyball team traveled to take on the Wildcats of Randolph College this evening where they lost in three sets: 25-18, 25-12, and 25-19.

The Pacers (2-7) trailed 11-9 in the first set, but a five point swing in favor of the Wildcats put them ahead seven and they went on to win, 25-18.

Randolph (5-4) kept the momentum going into the second and had no problem taking the Pacers down, 25-12.

WPU showed some fight in the third and was tied with Randolph at 13, but the Wildcats were too much down the stretch and closed things out, 25-19.

Tempestt Frazier led the team with seven kills and Megan Mansfield added six, while Meghan Luffman, Laura Bland, and Nicole Phillips each added four kills apiece.  Sarah Weavil collected a career high 16 assists and Carson Williams had a team high 10 digs.

"The talent is there, but talent is irrelevant when you can't put it all together and play as a team," said head coach Kevin Daniels.  "It boils down to several things from communication, confidence, and transferring practice to pay, but bottom line is we have to cut down on the errors if we want to start winning."

Peace only hit .159 as a team compared to .326 for the Wildcats. In addition to 14 attack errors, the Pacers also had nine reception errors, and five service errors.

The William Peace volleyball team will be back in action this weekend at the Christopher Newport Invitational starting Friday at 4:00 p.m. against Johns Hopkins and then Christopher Newport at 6:00 p.m.  The Pacers will turn around the next day for matches against Berry and Mount Union.
