WPU Women's Soccer Ties Guilford Behind Goal from Kincaid

RALEIGH, N.C. – After a disappointing season opener against Sweet Briar, the William Peace women's soccer team bounced back for a much more positive result against Guilford College on Sunday, playing the Quakers to double overtime, 1-1, draw.

"I couldn't be more proud of our girls and what they showed tonight," said head coach Keith Jenkins. "They really dug down deep to grind out that result despite some tired legs."

"It was a great goal by Grayson [Kincaid], outstanding goalkeeping from Shannon [Maddex], our backline held firm tonight, and every player contributed which is all you can ask for," Jenkins added.

After a scoreless first half, Kincaid scored the game's first goal in the 51st minute banking it off the post and into the goal, but the Quakers answered when Kelli Uresti connected with Nicki Baggett in the 81st minute

They went on to play two, ten minute overtime periods, but neither team was able to break the tie.

The Pacers will be back on their home pitch Saturday, Sep. 6 as they take on Hollins at 3:00 p.m.
