MURFREESBORO, NC –Dave McLamb scored in the 28th minute on a corner kick from Amelia Melching, and the offense produced 13 shots to only eight for the Hawks, but the William Peace women's soccer team fell short against Division II opponent Chowan University, 2-1.
Despite it being a close game, the Pacers (3-9-1, 1-5 USAS) did not put forth one of their better efforts of the year.
"There aren't many positives to take away from giving a team their first win of the year," said head coach Keith Jenkins. "We played poorly."
Katie McGrath scored both goals for Chowan (1-9). She was assisted by Karen Keteltas in the 18th minute. McGrath scored the game winner in the 60th with the help of Emily Cross.
The Pacers will return to action on their home field this Sunday, Oct. 12 at 1:00 p.m. against the Avenging Angels of Meredith College.
