RALEIGH, N.C. - William Peace University women 's soccer has announced the addition of Maya Houston as an assistant coach ahead of the 2026-27 season.
"I am very excited to welcome Maya to our coaching staff." Head Coach Becky Scroger said. "Maya is a great fit for our team culture and program. She brings passion, leadership, and experience, and will be an asset in developing our student-athletes both on and off the field. I look forward to seeing the positive impact she will make on our program and players!"
Houston joins the Pacers after spending two seasons with the Tennessee High School girls soccer program, serving as a varsity assistant coach and the head junior varsity coach. During her time with the program, Tennessee High captured both conference and regional championships, while Houston developed several players who went on to compete at the NCAA Division I and Division II levels.
A native of Gray, Tennessee, Houston played five seasons at NCAA Division II KIng University from 2017-2021. She appeared in 66 matches and made 56 starts during her collegiate career while serving as team captain for three seasons. At defender, she scored the game winning goal against Francis Marion in 2021 and scored her first collegiate goal against Piedmont International in the 2019 season.
In addition to her success on the field, Houston earned Dean's List recognition and was named to the Conference Carolinas Presidential Honor Roll in 2021. She graduated from King with a bachelor's degree in psychology and a minor in Spanish.
Before her collegiate career, Houston attended University High School, where she served as a team captain and earned All-Conference, All-District, and All-Region honors. She helped lead the program to conference and district championships and also competed at the club level with Tri-City United.
