Box Score 2 RALEIGH, NC - Game One: William Peace softball fell to Meredith College in game one of a double header, 12-2 in five innings.
The Pacers jumped on the board early with a solo home run from Cierra Lear in the top of the first, but the Avenging Angels responded quickly and kept piling on.
Adanya Day launched a solo homer to right field to notch her second RBI of the game. However, William Peace was limited to just two hits total in the contest, both home runs.
In the circle, Reagan Stewart took the loss, allowing 13 hits and 12 earned runs.
Game Two: William Peace softball came up just short in game two of Saturday's doubleheader, falling 4-3.
The Pacers struck early, taking a 2-0 lead in the top of the first inning thanks to an RBI double from Adanya Day and a sacrifice fly from Reagan Stewart. Meredith answered with a run in the second and took control in the third to secure the 3-2 lead.
William Peace clawed back in the sixth when Kinley Jordan and Cierra Lear set the table with a walk and single, and Stewart notched her second RBI of the day with another sac fly to center, tying the game at 3-3. But Meredith responded in the bottom half, and eventually scored the go-ahead run on an RBI ground out.
Day finished 2-for-2 with a double and a pair of walks, while Lear also notched two hits in the lead off role. Jordan reached base three times and scored twice to spark the offense.
In the circle, Kimberly Bordeaux threw a complete game for WPU, scattering seven hits and striking out six.
