Women's Soccer Hosts Randolph Saturday

RALEIGH, N.C. – William Peace will host its third straight home women's soccer game on Saturday.

Randolph comes to town for a 2:30 p.m. duel at WakeMed Soccer Park in Cary, N.C. It will be the second game of a WPU-Randolph doubleheader featuring the men's game at 12 p.m. Admission is free to both contests.

The Pacers will attempt to rebound from Wednesday's 2-0 loss to Carolina U which evened their record at 1-1. They are led offensively by senior midfielder Emma Avery and sophomore forward Savanna Berckmiller, who rank third and fourth, respectfully, in the USA South Conference in goals average per game.

Sophomore midfielder Kerlyn Navarrete Trejos is tied for fourth in assists average per game and sophomore goalkeeper Gaby Vazquez is tied for first in goals against average and save percentage.

Most matches between WPU and Randolph are competitive, but the Pacers are seeking their first win against the Wildcats in seven tries. The Wildcats are 4-0-2 in the last six meetings since 2014 including a 2-0 win in Lynchburg, Va., last year.

Randolph (1-0) won its season opener at home on Wednesday, defeating Virginia State 2-1. Holly Bermingham scored and assisted on a goal for the Wildcats, a member of the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC).
