Women's Soccer Hosts Johnson & Wales Tuesday

Savannah Berckmiller Leads USA South In Game-Winning Goals Average

RALEIGH, N.C. – William Peace takes a break from conference play as the Pacers host Johnson & Wales (N.C.) in a women's soccer game Tuesday at WakeMed Soccer Park in Cary, N.C. Admission is free to the contest, which begins at 7 p.m.

This is the Pacers' first home appearance since Sept. 11 when they defeated Regent 5-1. Their last game was Sept. 21, a 2-1 loss to Mary Baldwin in Staunton, Va. Two games have been postponed in the past two weeks due to inclement weather.

William Peace (2-2-1 overall) is led offensively by Emma Avery, Savanna Berckmiller, Cate Czyzewski and Emma Mayer. Avery ranks fourth in points per game (1.60) in the USA South and tied for seventh in total goals (4) despite playing just five games. Berckmiller has scored two goals and leads the USA South in game-winning goals average per game (.400).

Czyzewski, a recent USA South Rookie of the Week winner, has scored two goals and Mayer has two assists and one goal. Defensively, Gaby Vazquez is the conference leader in goals against average (.827) and saves percentage (.824).

Johnson & Wales (3-4 overall), a U.S. Collegiate Athletic Association member, is 2-1 against USA South opponents this season. They defeated Salem 2-0 and Pfeiffer 3-0 and lost to Greensboro 2-1.

The Pacers won last season's matchup 2-1 in Charlotte, N.C.
