Williams Named USA South Men's Golfer Rookie of the Year

RALEIGH, N.C. – Freshman golfer Ian Williams of William Peace was named USA South Conference Men's Golf Rookie of the Year on Friday.

Williams is the first golfer from William Peace to ever win the honor. He earned it with a 74.7 stroke average to lead all conference rookies. The Cary, N.C., native was named league player of the week twice and rookie of the week five times (four in the spring, one in the fall).

The Pacers golfer finished among the top 10 in six of nine tournaments, including three-top five finishes and a victory in the PCT Spring Break Challenge on March 11-12. He shot par or under five times in 18 rounds this season, including a season-low 69 in the PCT Spring Break Challenge in Southern Pines, N.C.

In addition to Williams' individual award, teammate Britt Laughinghouse was placed on the USA South All-Sportsmanship Team.
