Women's Soccer: USA South Honors Avery, Hanson

RALEIGH, N.C. – Emma Avery and Jerri Hanson of William Peace were honored by the USA South Conference on Tuesday, Nov. 5.

Avery, a senior midfielder, was named to the all-conference team for the second consecutive year as a second-team selection. Hanson, a senior defender, was selected to the USA South All-Sportsmanship Team. Both players helped the Pacers reach the USA South Tournament as a No. 8 seed.

A Rapid City, S.D., native, Avery led the Pacers in goals (7) and points (15) while adding one assist. She ended the season tied for ninth in goals and game-winning goals per game in the USA South. The Pacers' senior ranked 10th in goals per game and points per game.

Avery concludes her collegiate career as a United Soccer Coaches All-Region VI third team selection and a two-time all-conference pick. She has the program record for most goals (15) and most points (34) in a season, which she achieved as a junior.

Hanson, a Jacksonville, N.C., native and defensive starter, was placed on the All-Sportsmanship Team for displaying the best sportsmanship on the Pacers this season according to Head Coach Becky Scroger.
