Raleigh, NC -- William Peace University softball split a doubleheader with Barton College. The Pacers picked up an 11-3 win in game one with a strong performance from pitcher Katherine Murphy. They fell 6-0 in game two with Barton pitcher Rilee Jones recording 8 strikeouts.

HOW IT HAPPENED
GAME ONE
1st - Candice Smith and
Emily Puckett would get themselves in scoring position at the top of the 1st, with
Raynee Redington's single scoring Puckett to give WPU a 1-0 lead.Â
2nd - A few stolen bases and a single in the bottom of the 2nd would give Barton a 2-1 lead.
3rd - The Pacers would get the bats going at the top of the 3rd, with
Lauren Conway coming home on an error to tie the game 2-2. A double by
Logan Ayers would bring home
Lydia Hunt,
Raynee Redington, and
Nadia Pittman to give the Pacers a 5-2 lead.
Taylor Ferguson would follow that up with her own double to score Ayers, while a single
Emily Puckett would bring home Ferguson to end the inning with a 7-2 WPU lead.
4th - Barton would add their final run of the game as they trailed the Pacers 7-3.
5th - The Pacers would get the bases loaded, with
Lauren Conway hitting a double down the left field line to bring home
Emily Puckett,
Taylor Ferguson, and
Lydia Hunt to increase the Pacer lead to 11-3 and secure the win.

GAME TWO
2nd - Pitcher Rilee Jones would give the Pacers some trouble at the plate, preventing them from getting on the scoreboard, with Barton adding a single run at the bottom of the inning to lead 1-0.
3rd and 4th - Barton would add one run in the bottom of the third and the bottom of the 4th to lead 3-0.
5th and 6th - A double would bring home another two runs for Barton in the 5th, with the Bulldogs adding another run in the 6th. Despite a few hits from the Pacers in the final innings, they would be unable to convert and would fall 6-0.
PACER TOP PERFORMERS
FOR THE FOES
- Christine McLean would go 2 for 3 in game two as she added 3 RBIs.
- Rilee Jones would pitch all 7 innings for the Bulldogs in game two, recording 8 strikeouts and allowing just one hit and no runs.
NEXT GAME
The Pacers will host Greensboro College in a doubleheader contest on February 27th at 1 PM and 3PM.
