Pacers Split First Day of Fastpitch Dreams Classic

The Basics:
  • Game 1 Final Score: William Peace 2 Coe 14
  • Game 2 Final Score: William Peace 12 Chatham 0

  • Location: Myrtle Beach, SC

Game 1 - William Peace v. Coe:
  • The Pacers would trade runs with the Kohawks in the first three innings of action as the Kohawks would jump on the scoreboard early in the top of the first inning. The Pacers would answer in the bottom of the second inning as Kristen Bailly would reach on a fielding error at first base, Bailey Lambertson would score on the error.
  • With the score tied, 1-1, Coe would score two on a double to right center, taking a 3-2 advantage in the top of the third.
  • The Pacers would fire back in the bottom of the third inning as Kristina Mojica would reach on another Kohawk error. Mojica would advance to second on the throw and Candice Smith would score. The Pacers would trail, 3-2.
  • With a 4-2 lead heading into the top of the sixth inning, the Kohawks would bring in four runs off of strong base hits in the gaps.
  • The Pacers would have no answer in the bottom of the sixth and the Kohawks would finish the game in the top of the seventh inning, bringing in five more runs to wrap up the game, 14-2.

Pacer Top Performers for Game 1:
For the Foes for Game 1:
  • Haley Jones would go 4-5 for the Kohawks with two RBI's, one double, and one triple, scoring five runs to go along with two stolen bases.
  • Kelsey Hora went 3-4 with two RBI's and two stolen bases.
  • Allie O'Brien finished with two hits, one RBI, and one stolen base.
  • Alyssa Olson got the win on the mound with 11 strikeouts and just one earned run.

Game 2 - William Peace v. Chatham:
  • The Pacers bounced back in their second game of the Fastpitch Dreams Classic with a 12-0 finish against the Cougars of Chatham University.
  • In the first inning of action, Candice Smith would single to left field. Smith would steal second and Kaylea Eubanks would follow in the next at-bat with a single to center field, scoring Smith.
  • Chatham would make an attempt with two on in the bottom of the first inning but the Pacer defense would leave two left on base.
  • With bases loaded in the top of the second inning, Lauren Conway would single to center field scoring Kristina Mojica. Nadia Pittman would also score on an error by the center fielder.
  • With two on in the top of the second, Candice Smith would hit a 3 RBI homerun over the centerfield fence. The Pacers would head into the bottom of the second inning up, 6-0.
  • The Pacers would keep things rolling in the top of the third as Emily Puckett would double to center field with bases loaded to score Kristen Bailly and Sara Siwinski. Lauren Conway would follow Puckett with a single to center field, scoring Puckett. Candice Smith would step up to hit a double to left field scoring Conway. Kaylea Eubanks would single to center field scoring Smith to wrap up the rally for the Pacers as they would take an 11-0 lead heading into the bottom of the third inning.
  • Chatham would continue to leave runners stranded in the bottom of the third inning. The Pacers would score their 12th run of the game in the top of the fourth as Siwinski would double to left field. Bailly would double to center field scoring Siwinski.
  • The Pacers would run-rule the Cougars for an early 12-0 victory after five innings.

  • Caitlin Worwood lead the Cougars with two hits and one stolen base.
  • Alyson Adams finished with one double.


What's Next?
The Pacers will return to action on Thursday, March 7 for the second day of play at the Fastpitch Dreams Classic in Myrtle Beach, SC. The Pacers will take on Penn State Fayette at 3:30 p.m. and Chatham University again at 5:30 p.m.
