Men's Lacrosse Defeats Panthers in Home Opener

The Basics:
  • Final Score: William Peace 13 Ferrum 8
  • Records: William Peace 2-0 Ferrum 0-2
  • Location: Holly Springs, NC

How it Happened:
  • Walker Rice started the Pacers off strong with an early goal in the first period.
  • The Panthers answered back with a goal of their own with 10 minutes left in the first period.
  • Anthony Florian fires right back for the Pacers with two quick goals of his own to put the Pacers up 3-1.
  • The Panthers would score three more to finish out the first period and put them up 4-3.
  • Brewer Warlick would get the Pacers started in the second period followed by Walker Rice.
  • The Pacers would lead 6-5 with six minutes remaining in the second quarter.
  • Anthony Florian earned a hat trick in the second quarter with a big goal in the crease, bringing the score to 7-5 before halftime.
  • Only 45 seconds into the third quarter, the Pacers scored back-to-back goals just 10 seconds apart. Florian earned his 4th goal and Dalton Albright earned his first! The Pacers would lead, 9-5.
  • Nick Falso and Tristan Carter would bring the Pacer lead to 11-7 with 9:16 remaining in the fourth quarter. Tanner Brown would follow shortly after with a goal of his own.
  • Brewer Warlick would score his second goal of the game, assisted by Tanner Brown, to bring the score to 13-7.
  • The Panthers would score their final goal of the game with five minutes remaining, but their efforts would fall short as the Pacers would win, 13-8.

Pacer Top Performers:
For the Foes:
  • Jacob Boswell finished with two goals and one assist to go along with four round balls.
  • Ronald Carney, Mackoy Bodmer, and Jack Sheehan each scored two goals.
  • Austin Nowlin went 14-25 in the faceoff circle and would force five ground balls.
  • Koby McMahon would finish with 16 saves in net.
Stats of the Game:
  • The Pacers out-shot the Panthers 44-41.
  • The Panthers went 2-5 on extra man opportunities.

The William Peace men's lacrosse team will have a quick turn around with their next game taking place tomorrow, February 24 at 1:00 p.m. at Ting Park in Holly Springs. The Pacers take on Randolph College.
