Women's Soccer Takes Down Hollins University on the Road

ROANOKE, VA -- The William Peace University women's soccer team defeated Hollins University on Tuesday afternoon in impressive fashion. The Pacers (2-3-1) upset Hollins (2-5-1) with a 6-0 sweep.

The Pacers came out dominating the offense with several close shots in the opening minutes of play. It was not long before Pacer freshman, Grace Marion found the back of the net, in the seventh minute of play, from a cross from D'Aysha Jones. Within one minute from the first goal, Marion would find Alyssa Gasperini through the defense to score the second goal of the game. Maintaining majority of the possession throughout the first half, the Pacers limited Hollins to just one shot in the first half. WPU would score two more goals before heading into halftime with one coming from Jordan Rogers and the other coming from Amanda Lane. This would mark the first goals of the season for the two freshmen. The Pacers would head into halftime up 4-0, out-shooting Hollins 15-1.

The second half would prove to be similar to the first as the Pacers were able to control the flow of the game. Ten minutes into the second half, Gasperini scored her second goal of the day after a pass from Rogers would place Gasperini in scoring position. Shortly after, Marion would score her second goal of the day in the 61st minute. Once again, the Pacers defense would hold Hollins to just one shot and the Pacers would steal the win on the road with a final score of 6-0.
