RALEIGH, N.C. -- The William Peace women's soccer team opens up their season on the road in Buena Vista, VA as they take on Southern Virginia University on Friday, August 31. The Pacers last faced the Knights of SVU in 2012.

The Pacers return nine athletes from the 2017 season and welcome in freshmen, Makenzie Jones, D'Aysha Jones, Armonie Frazier, Jordan Rogers, Grace Marion, Amanda Lane, Ana-Beth Brewer, and Halle French.

Coach Reid Clewis shared, "We're extremely excited to get our season underway at Southern Virginia. They will provide us with a great test that will allow us to continue to prepare for our USA South opponents. I'm really happy with the mix of returners and newcomers that we have with this squad and believe that we've set ourselves up well to have a successful season."

Earlier in the week, the Pacers faced Neuse River Soccer Club in a scrimmage, that finished in a 1-1 tie. The Pacers showed defensive strength in newcomer keeper, Makenzie Jones.
