CARY, N.C. – The William Peace women's soccer team hosted LaGrange College this afternoon in their conference home opener where they fell to the Panthers, 2-0.
It was a tale of two halves for William Peace (2-6-1, 0-3 USAS) as they allowed both goals in the first and couldn't manage to work up a single shot compared to eight from LaGrange. Peace pitched a shutout in the second and outshot the Panthers, 7-2, to go along with several other opportunities, but the Pacers were unable to capitalize.
"For 45 minutes in the first half we didn't play, and for 45 minutes in the second half we decided to play…that's it," said head coach Keith Jenkins. "We played well in the second with numerous opportunities that we didn't finish, but we broke down defensively early in the first and they had us on the ropes from there."
Ashley Jacobson struck first for LaGrange (5-4, 2-1 USAS) in the 5th minute. Elise Hopson was credited with the assist. Kelsey Lewis scored with the help of (Sydney Aronson) in the 28th minute.
